Best Dating Apps in Thailand

Checked

Tinder is the best all-round dating app in Thailand, with the biggest mix of Thais, expats and travellers in the cities. ThaiFriendly is best for free chatting, since you can message without matching. ThaiCupid suits men after a long-term Thai partner. Omi is huge with Thai locals, and Bumble works for Bangkok professionals. All seven apps here are free to start.

The apps, ranked

  1. Tinder

Best for: Meeting Thais, expats and travellers in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket

The default app in Thai cities. It took 77% of Thai dating-app mentions on social media in May 2024 and has 320,686 ratings on Thailand's App Store, the most of any dating app we checked. Passport Mode, included with Plus, Gold and Platinum, lets you set your location to Bangkok before you land.

    Pros

    • Biggest and most mixed user pool in the cities
    • Passport lets you match before you arrive
    • Free tier is enough to chat once you match

    Cons

    • Thins out sharply outside the big cities
    • Mixed intentions, from friendship to serious dating
    • Fake and scam profiles turn up, as on any big app

Free to swipe and chat once matched. Tinder Plus from ฿89, Gold from ฿135 on Thailand's App Store (25 Oct 2026).

  2. ThaiFriendly

Best for: Chatting with Thai women for free, before or after you arrive

Built for Thai singles meeting people from abroad. You can message anyone without matching first; the free limit is one message every 10 minutes. It claims over 2 million members and 1.3 million active photo profiles, says more than 2,000 people join every day, and gives a blue tick to members who pass a face check.

    Pros

    • Message anyone without a match
    • Large Thai user base across the whole country
    • Blue tick helps filter fake profiles

    Cons

    • Free messaging is capped at one every 10 minutes
    • Premium costs more than Tinder Plus in Thailand
    • Cross-cultural sites draw scammers, so video call early

Free, limited to one message every 10 minutes. Premium ฿699 a month or ฿4,300 a year on Thailand's App Store; $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year on the US store (25 Oct 2026).

Visit ThaiFriendly(opens in a new tab)
  3. ThaiCupid

Best for: Men looking for a long-term relationship or marriage with a Thai partner

Part of Cupid Media's network of over 30 niche dating sites, running since 2002 with over 3 million members. The crowd skews older and more serious than Tinder's. Free accounts can browse and review matches; Gold and Platinum are the paid tiers, so check in the app what free members can send. Platinum adds message translation, handy across the language gap.

    Pros

    • Relationship-minded crowd
    • Platinum translates messages
    • Long track record and a big parent network

    Cons

Free to join and review matches. Gold ฿899 a month or ฿3,600 a year; Platinum ฿1,100 a month on Thailand's App Store (25 Oct 2026).

Visit ThaiCupid(opens in a new tab)
  4. Omi

Best for: Meeting Thai locals, with quiz and blind-date features

The local favourite most foreigners haven't heard of. Omi was Thailand's most downloaded dating app from January to July 2024 and has 308,070 ratings on Thailand's App Store, close to Tinder. Its Blind Date mode starts with avatars and unlocks real photos once you both send five messages. Judging by that Thai footprint, most users are local, so some Thai helps.

    Pros

    • Huge local user base
    • Cheapest premium on this list
    • Quiz and Blind Date features make openers easier

    Cons

    • Language gap if you don't speak Thai
    • Few expats and travellers
    • Little English-language coverage or reviews

Free. Premium ฿189 a month or ฿379 for three months on Thailand's App Store (25 Oct 2026).

Visit Omi(opens in a new tab)
  5. Bumble

Best for: Bangkok professionals and expats who want deliberate dating

Smaller in Thailand, with 22,290 ratings on Thailand's App Store, but its Bangkok crowd skews toward educated, career-minded locals and expats. Premium includes Travel Mode, which places you in a city up to seven days before you go. Bumble has been changing how chats open, so check the current first-message rule in the app.

    Pros

    • Professional, English-speaking crowd in Bangkok
    • Travel Mode lets you plan dates ahead
    • Pushes ID verification early

    Cons

    • Small pool outside Bangkok
    • Premium is pricey for the size of the pool
    • Chat rules keep changing
  6. Badoo

Best for: A second app for casual chats with expats and younger travellers

Owned by Bumble's parent company (Bumble Inc.). It has 24,071 ratings on Thailand's App Store, but the Thaiger says Thai user volume is limited and the crowd leans toward younger expats and travellers. Its three-step verification lets you chat only with verified profiles if you choose.

    Pros

    • Option to talk only to verified profiles
    • Cheap short-term premium
    • Video chat built in

    Cons

    • Thin local Thai crowd
    • Credits and add-ons get confusing
    • Better as a backup than a main app

Free. Premium from ฿199 for 7 days; 100 credits for ฿79 on Thailand's App Store (25 Oct 2026).

Visit Badoo(opens in a new tab)
  7. tantan

Best for: Meeting Chinese expats and visitors in Thailand

A Chinese swipe app that, says the Thaiger, surged in Thailand alongside the rebound in Chinese tourism. The international version, published by Hello Planet, has 1,815 ratings on Thailand's App Store and built-in translation. Useful if you speak Mandarin or want to meet Chinese residents; a niche pick otherwise.

    Pros

    • Reaches a crowd other apps miss
    • Built-in chat translation
    • Familiar swipe layout

    Cons

    • Small international user base in Thailand
    • Few Thai users

How to pick a dating app in Thailand

Pick by goal, not by hype. For a mixed city crowd, start with Tinder. To chat with Thai women for free, before or after you land, use ThaiFriendly. If you want marriage, ThaiCupid's crowd is older and more serious. Omi reaches a mostly Thai crowd, and Bumble or Hinge fit Bangkok's professional set.

Two apps is the sweet spot. Tinder's Passport Mode and Bumble's Travel Mode let you appear in Bangkok before you arrive, so you can line up a coffee for your first week. Pay for one month when you're actually in the country, not a year up front.

Prices here are from Thailand's App Store on 25 October 2026. Web and app prices can differ, and ThaiCupid's terms say fees vary between countries.

Profile tips that work in Thailand

Lead with clear, smiling photos in daylight: no sunglasses, no group shots where she has to guess which one is you. Say how long you're in Thailand and what you're after; Thai women on these apps hear from a lot of men passing through, and being upfront stands out.

Keep your bio short and in simple English; plenty of matches will read it through a translator. A line of Thai, like "sawasdee krap", always lands. Verify your profile where you can: ThaiFriendly's blue tick means a member passed a face check, and a badge makes you look less like a fake.

Open politely: ask about her day, her city, her favourite food. Crude openers get blocked fast. Swap LINE IDs after a few good messages, not in your first line, and don't lead with money or your car.

Scams on dating apps in Thailand

Fake profiles are part of every app. Thai police counted 1,435 romance scam cases and over 476 million baht in losses from mid-March to December 2023.

The red flags rarely change: she won't video call, wants to move to WhatsApp or Telegram within minutes, looks like a model in every photo, or has an emergency that needs money. A newer one is the match who wants to show you a crypto, forex or gold trading platform; Match Group warns of exactly these relationship-based investment scams.

Reverse-search a suspicious photo, as the FTC suggests, report the profile in the app, and report losses to Thailand's AOC 1441 hotline. More on money and the classic sick-buffalo story in our dating in Thailand guide.
