Dating in Asia
Dating in Southeast Asia runs on apps, but the right app changes from country to country. These guides cover Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam: where people meet, which apps locals and expats actually use, what they cost, and the scams that target foreigners. Every price is checked against the app store and dated, so you know how fresh it is. Pick a country below to start.

Dating in Thailand mostly starts on apps. Tinder is the biggest in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket, while ThaiFriendly and ThaiCupid are built for Thai singles meeting foreigners.
Best Dating Apps in Thailand
Tinder is the best all-round dating app in Thailand, with the biggest mix of Thais, expats and travellers in the cities. ThaiFriendly is best for free chatting, since you can message without matching.
Best Dating Apps in the Philippines
Tinder and Bumble are the two dating apps in the top 10 of the Philippine App Store's free Lifestyle chart (25 October 2026). For a serious relationship with a foreigner, FilipinoCupid is the biggest specialist site.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best dating site in Asia?
There isn't one for the whole region. For cross-border dating, Cupid Media's AsianDating claims over 4.5 million members, and DateInAsia says it is 100% free. Inside each country, local apps win: in Thailand, Tinder and Omi lead Thailand's App Store ratings. Our guides for Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam compare the apps that work there.
Which dating app do most Asians use?
It depends on the country. In Thailand, Tinder took 77% of dating-app mentions on social media in May 2024, while the local app Omi was the most downloaded from January to July 2024. Chinese users have their own apps, such as tantan. Country sites like ThaiCupid serve locals who want to meet foreigners.
Is the AsianDating site free?
It's free to join and to review your matches, according to AsianDating's homepage. Its upgrade prices aren't on a public page, so check them in the app or on the site before paying. If you want a site that costs nothing at all, DateInAsia calls itself a free dating site, not an agency.
Are Asian dating sites legit?
The big ones are real businesses: AsianDating and ThaiCupid belong to Cupid Media, which runs over 30 niche dating sites, and ThaiCupid's terms say it is not a marriage brokering or mail order bride service. The risk is fake profiles, not the platform: Thai police logged over 476 million baht in romance scam losses from mid-March to December 2023.
